There is a reason why surfing is a popular culture in the US. Miles of coastlines and stunning waves that never stop wait for the adventure-hungry people to dip into the deep waters. Finding the perfect surfing spot is not an easy thing, especially if you haven’t traveled around. However, there is always someone with more surfing experience than you who can help you find what you’re looking for. Here are some suggestions on where to go surfing this season and enjoy the laid-back beach vibe.

Montauk, New York

Surfing

Montauk is a coastal town in East Hampton on Long Island that’s not reserved only for the fashionable set, but for chilled surfers as well. In the summer months, the town’s coves, points, and reefs become crowded by surfers who know where to look for perfect waves. In fact, Montauk is considered as a surfing jewel on the East Coast. The Manhattan-based surfers prefer Ditch Plains Beach and Turtle Cove, although the water here is cold. If you want to fast forward to a pro surf level, then find friends who will take you to Montauk for an extremely fun surfing day.

Malibu, California

All the Los Angeles-based surfers say that Malibu is their paradise, plus it’s only an hour away. Surfers mainly congregate on Surfrider Beach where it’s not abnormal to share the waves with some celebrities that fancy the sport. Malibu is also a coastal town with ecological significance due to the Surfrider Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps protect oceans, waves, and beaches since 1984. Carbon Beach area is also a spot where you would like to hang out with your surfboard and ride some extremely challenging waves.

Encinitas, California

Maybe you don’t understand what’s so great about Encinitas? Well, it’s only 30 minutes north of San Diego, and you can surf here every day of the year, thanks to the perfect weather conditions. Temperatures in Encinitas rarely dip below 40 degrees or reach over 85. No matter if you are a newbie or a professional, on Moonlight Beach in Encinitas you will find your perfect spot and improve your surfing skills. Most of the people who live here adapted to the surf lifestyle and there are almost no homes or garages in town that don’t have at least one surfboard drying outside. Beach volleyball and surf fishing are other activities that you can do around here while enjoying the endless sunshine.

Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina

Consistent swells and college-age surfers are the two things that you will find for sure in Kill Devil Hills during the summer months. The town is the surfing gem of the Outer Banks, and besides the great surf, it offers comfortable accommodation at Outer Banks Beach Club Resort that includes indoor and outdoor swimming pools where you can relax additionally after a long surfing day. Santa Cruz, California

Santa Cruz is a college town dividing Northern and Southern California, and one of the nation’s favorite surfing spots. The monstrously big waves in Santa Cruz made the place popular among the greatest surfers in the world that can be spotted riding the wild waters of the Pacific Ocean. After an exhausting surfing session, don’t forget to stop by at one of the beachside restaurants that offer great food and epic surfing stories.
