Everest Summit Fakers Potential Ban

Last spring a couple from India claimed that they had climbed Mt. Everest, making them the first couple from their country to complete this amazing feat. The problem is that they lied. They never did complete the climb. Unfortunately for the pair, they were soon found out.  Many facets of their story did not add up, such as the fake pictures and inconsistencies in their story as people started to look into it.

Now a committee in Nepal is calling for the government to ban the couple from climbing the mountain for a decade.  This ban could also include even coming into Napal and could set a precedent for any others that fake claiming the big mountains accessed from there.

In June news outlets were publishing the story that Dinesh and Tarkeshwari Rathod were the first Indian couple to successfully reach the summit of Mt Everest, but it was the keen eyes of other mountaineers that identified some inconsistencies, for instance, their clothing and equipment was different in the different pictures marking different points of the climb, you don’t; swap out gear regular in climbs so this was a glaring indicator of the truth.

After an investigation was conducted by various parties, it was officially determined that the couple had lied about the climb.  This is highly offensive to, not only those who have completed the strenuous climb but also to the country, because they were lauded as the first couple from India to complete the climb and exalted to heroic levels after the climb it’s drawn a lot of attention to the issue and how to deal with it.

To add insult to injury, this was not the first time that the couple had fabricated a tale of climbing mountains.  The couple had previously lied about climbing the 10 highest peaks in Australia.

Those that are calling for the government to ban the couple have also questioned the company that issued the climbing certificate.
