SAVANNAH, GA. – November 4, 2016 – The 6th annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon & ½ Marathon is ready to rock the hostess city of the south. The race returns the weekend of November 5 – 6, 2016 and will welcome more than 18,000 runners from all 50 states and 10 countries.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah will debut a revamped course for the 2016 event. The updated route will feature more of downtown Savannah’s historic and charming town squares, a redesigned section through the Gordonston neighborhood, parks and more.

“The biggest change this year is that the course will run through more of downtown Savannah and less of the rural parts of the city,” said Ted Metellus, Course Director. “The updates will highlight even more of the beauty and history Savannah has to offer and we are thrilled to showcase the city to thousands of runners from around the world in November.”

The marathon, half-marathon and two-person half marathon relay will start downtown at the intersection of Bay Street and Bull Street adjacent to Savannah City Hall.

Participants will once again experience true Southern charm as they run past historic town squares including, Monterey Square and Lafayette Square, canopies of Spanish moss covered trees and historic buildings. In true Rock ‘n’ Roll fashion, 30 live bands interspersed with enthusiastic cheerleaders and themed water stations will line the race route, concluding with a celebratory finish line festival and post race Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series headlined by Old Crow Medicine Show at Forsyth Park.
