A fish bow to tackle your tackle

A fish bow is something you may wish to construct when you are visiting the great outdoors with your backpack in tow. This bow is not the sort with which you use to shoot arrows, which is not the only kind of bow there is. Rather, it is a neat way to store your fishing line. You can also use it to straighten your tackle if it has become tangled in the bottom of your backpack.

In order to make a fish bow to use, you will need a few dozen yards of monofilament, this could be backed by some gutted 550 paracord. You may need to extend your fishing line supplies. You will need to look around to find a bowed stick, about two feet long.  If it is slightly curved so much the better. Better still is if it has a small fork at one end. This will make the job so much easier. At the other end of the stick, you will need to carve out a notch. If the stick you find does not have a fork then a notch will have to be carved out at both ends.

Native boats and outriggers

At one end cut a slit in which to insert your line. Tie it securely. Your bow is then ready to begin winding the tackle end to end. Wind it back and forth until all the filament has been tightly wound onto the bow. As a newbie survival fisherman, all you will now need to have packed in your bag are hooks and bait. The bait can even be found in the area. If you have these basic items, you will be able to have a go at catching fish in various places in the outdoors. Once you have caught and prepared the fish, get the fire going and you can get ready for a great outdoor meal.
