What you’ll need for cooking on your camping trips

Any camper will tell you, there is nothing quite like the smell of supper cooking outside. Using a little ingenuity, camp cooking can be quite delicious, and it does not need to be the slop that the cartoon caricatures portray.

However, here are some things you will need to take with you to ensure your camp meal is top class.

Water

Clean water is essential for a good and healthy meal

Water is the number one ingredient that you will need for your camp gourmet dishes. You can take bottled water if you prefer it. Also, you could, of course, fill bottles from your tap at home. There may be places where you find yourself that have water with which you can refill your bottles. Keep your drinking water separate. You do not need to be so fussy about water that you use for washing and cleaning up.

Food

Of course you need to prepare the main ingredients for your meals

Pack food that you enjoy for all your meals along with some condiments to help make the food interesting. Also pack some snack foods for nibbling on, About Travel reported.

Cooler

A cooler is a must on every camping trip

One of the things you will need to invest in is a camp cooler. This will keep perishables safe and keep drinks cold. Make sure you use the water from melting ice — you can use this in your cooking pot or for washing up.

Stove

Get yourself a portable cooking stove

A camp stove will ensure that your food will be cooked, as a fire is not always reliable to achieve a good tasting meal. The best camp stove will be a two-plate burner that uses propane as fuel. The best type to have has a screen to block the wind.

Utensils

Cooking utensils are a great investment

You also will need basic utensils including a spoon, a knife, and a cutting board. A bowl in which to mix ingredients can be useful. A set of cutlery, a plate, and cup for each camper will obviously also be required. If you bring some of your food in cans, it will be really remiss to forget to bring a can opener with you.

Grill

What better way to cook your food than on a campfire

A camp just is not a camp without a campfire and camp grill. Bring charcoal with you to ensure a good burning fire on which to grill part of your meal. You could also consider using a Dutch oven, in which case you will have to include other specific utensils.

So, follow the tips and you’ll have great meals on your next camping trip. Make sure you pack everything and enjoy your wonderful time in the wild.
