Best places to visit in Maryland

Maryland may be a weird-shaped state but it’s one that offers plenty of tourist attractions. Here you can see anything from the beautiful scenery of Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean to the Appalachian Mountains, or even great urban areas like Baltimore. The wide variety of places to visit attracts people from across the country and from abroad as well. Here you can find something to suit everyone’s taste. Plan a road trip with your friends and visit the whole state if you have enough time. If not, choose a place you like the look of and give it a try. Maryland state will be happy to receive you.

Maryland Eastern Shore

The eastern side of Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay is the most famous attraction in the state and becomes packed during the summer months. The area is known for its beaches, incredible natural environment, and charming towns such as Chestertown, St. Michaels, Cambridge, Ocean City or Assateague Island. You can organize a tour and visit all of these picturesque places and see the Assateague ponies.

Enjoy the amazing scenery of Maryland’s capital, go shopping, dining or take a sightseeing cruise. Annapolis is the sailing capital of the US and hosts the United States Naval Academy. By taking a tour, whether walking or by boat, you can learn more about the history of this beautiful seaport.

Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Park

The C&O Canal is a national historical park where you can enjoy a long walk or a bike ride. It starts in Washington D.C. along the Potomac River, and it ends in Cumberland, Maryland. The canal dates from the 18th century and along the way you can spot aqueducts, locks, and a variety of bird species. The 184.5-mile towpath is perfect for cycling and long-distance walks. The path is most beautiful during autumn and spring.

Deep Creek Lake

Deep Creek Lake is one of the top getaway spots in the state of Maryland. The area has a lot to offer throughout the whole year, so it doesn’t really matter when you decide to visit. For those who prefer to have an active vacation and enjoy outdoor activities, Deep Creek Lake is a paradise. Here you can go hiking, cycling, camping, boating, picnicking, horseback riding or swimming. All of the family will be satisfied with what the Deep Creek Lake region has to offer. As for the winter months, you can continue having fun here by doing some skiing, snowboarding, snowtubing, and snowmobiling.

Brookside Gardens

For all garden lovers, Maryland offers a 50-acre public garden inside the Wheaton Regional Park, and the entrance is free. Don’t you already love this state? What’s even better is that the variety of gardens that you can visit here will blow your mind. The types of garden you will find here are the aquatic garden, the butterfly garden, rose garden, children’s garden, formal garden, fragrance garden, Japanese style garden, trial garden, and the azalea garden. You can’t see all of them in one day, so plan a week-long stay if you want to get the most enjoyment out of your visit here.

Baltimore Inner Harbor

Baltimore is the largest city in Maryland and is fun to spend a day in. Walking on the docks, observing people, having a meal near the Inner Harbor, the city’s prime attraction. The National Aquarium, Camden Yards, Port Discovery, Baltimore’s Historic Ships, Maryland Science Center, and Pier Six Pavilion are the must-visit places if you ever come to Baltimore.
